((This was an actual blurb on the news last night.  Thought it might serve for a good springing off point for anyone with mafia-related plotlines))

The 6 o'clock news rolls through Wednesday evening with its usual plethora of uninteresting, mediocre, and oft-repeated stories that no one is actually around to hear except for the retired folk who are actually home, eating their supper and waiting for Wheel of Fortune to come on.

Among the stories are the continuing investigation of Jimmy Dimora's corruption; a local police chief caught with his pants down with a subordinate officer; new changes in the region's driving laws; the switch to automated lotto teller machines; and a drug bust in the suburbs that may be linked to Russian crime.

The story is only a five minute blurb, but police officers centered in Beachwood busted a mulit-million dollar drug operation that reached into New York, and may have connections with the Russian mafia.  About $1 million worth of drugs and profits were confiscated, and several people arrested.  There are no comments whether this is believed to be part of an even larger operation, or if further investigation into the mob will be pursued.
