((I think with the Perception + Empathy Alena is trying to read Johnnie's emotional state through his body posturing, facial expressions, etc.  Its nothing psychic, so you don't need to describe your actual thought process, but a little more on how Johnnie's body reflects his current emotional state might be helpful and more in line with what Alena was looking for.  Does he appear calm, nervous, hostile, etc.))

((OOC:   Johnnie's emotional state:  He is tense, but very quiet, someone who know's what the situation is about, but is remaining in control nonetheless.  He is obviously not happy on the treatment that he is receiving, but he can understand the situation and why he is being treated the way he is right now.  Is he scared?  Somewhat, but he is, right now, currently in control of his emotions.  Hope this gives you the information you are looking for ...))
